Before You Book

 

How many guests can Pond Cottage accommodate?

Pond Cottage comfortably accommodates up to six (6) guests, making it ideal for families, friends and small groups looking to enjoy a peaceful countryside escape.

Is Pond Cottage suitable for children?

Absolutely. Families are very welcome and children love the large garden, open spaces and nearby countryside walks.

A travel cot and highchair can be provided upon request (subject to availability).

 

Do you allow dogs?

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

We simply ask that dogs are not left unattended in the cottage and that muddy paws are cleaned before coming indoors.

The surrounding countryside offers wonderful walks straight from the front door.

Is the cottage suitable for longer stays?

Yes. Whether you're visiting for a long weekend, a family holiday or an extended stay, Pond Cottage has everything needed to feel at home.

Arrival & Departure

 

What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 3:00 pm. You'll receive detailed arrival instructions before your stay.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 10:00 am.

This allows us sufficient time to prepare the cottage for arriving guests.

Is self check-in available?

Yes.

Guests can arrive at a time that suits them after check-in.

Full instructions will be sent before arrival.

The Cottage

 

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. High-speed fibre broadband is available throughout the cottage.

Is there a Smart TV?

Yes. The Garden Room features a large Smart TV perfect for relaxing after a day exploring.

Is there a wood-burning stove?

Yes. The traditional inglenook fireplace with its wood-burning stove is one of Pond Cottage's most loved features.

A starter supply of logs is provided during the colder months.

Is the kitchen fully equipped?

Yes. You'll find everything needed for everyday cooking as well as entertaining family and friends, including modern appliances, cookware, crockery, glassware and serving dishes.

Is bed linen provided?

Yes. Luxury bed linen, towels and basic toiletries are all included.

Is there a washing machine?

Yes. The cottage includes laundry facilities together with an iron and ironing board.

Outside

 

Is there parking?

Yes. Private parking is available at the cottage for guests.

Is there a private garden?

Yes. The beautifully landscaped gardens are exclusively for guests to enjoy throughout their stay.

Can we eat outside?

Absolutely. The garden is perfect for morning coffee, outdoor dining or simply relaxing with a book on warm summer afternoons.

Exploring the Area

 

Is there a pub nearby?

Yes. The Woodman, a traditional English village pub, is just a short stroll away and is a favourite with both locals and guests.

Several other excellent country pubs and restaurants can also be found within a short drive.

 

Are there walks from the cottage?

One of the best things about Pond Cottage is that you can leave the car behind.

Quiet country lanes, public footpaths and bridleways begin almost from the front door, making it easy to explore the surrounding Hertfordshire countryside on foot.

 

How far is Hertford?

Hertford is approximately a 10-minute drive away and offers excellent restaurants, independent shops, supermarkets, riverside walks and Hertford Castle.

Can we visit London during our stay?

Yes. Many guests combine the peace of the countryside with a day in London.

The nearest railway stations are Hertford North, Hertford East and Ware, with regular services into central London in around 45–60 minutes.

 

How far are the airports?

Approximate driving times are:

  • London Stansted – 30 minutes

  • London Luton – 35 minutes

  • London Heathrow – 1 hour

  • London City Airport – 1 hour

Booking

 

Is smoking permitted?

No. Pond Cottage is a non-smoking property.

Do you host parties or events?

To preserve the peaceful character of the cottage and its surroundings, parties and events are not permitted.

Can we celebrate a special occasion?

Of course. Many guests visit to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings.

If you're planning something special, we'd be delighted to recommend local florists, caterers or restaurants to help make your stay memorable.
